All of Witches Butter product containers, packaging and shipping materials are sustainable and Eco friendly!
Witches Butter is committed to ethical, humane, and fair trade sourcing of product materials.
Oil production is one of the number one contributors to deforestation, climate change, and inhumane/unfair working conditions. We've been intentional when sourcing our oils to ensure that they come from Sustainable, Organic, and Fair Trade Distributors.
The two oils that we use in the highest quantities are
Coconut oil- We specifically sourced our organic, cold pressed coconut oil through Dignity and Nutiva. Both brands (among other ethical company standards) are committed to buying from and working with small farmers and local communities in the Philippines and around the world.
Shea Butter- We source Organic Shea from Baraka, a Ghana based company.
Among other high ethical standards, Baraka Shea Butter is Community Certified Fair Trade. Meaning, the women who make/harvest the Shea meet annually to review their relationship with Baraka Shea Butter and whether or not they have been treated fairly. They review and discuss their relationship with Baraka over the past year and decide whether or not to let the company use the Community Certified Fair Trade logo for the coming year, effectively giving the workers control over trade and work conditions.
All of the plant, mushroom, and algae ingredients used in our products are sourced from Certified Organic-Fair Trade distributers, are organically grown by individuals, or have been sustainably foraged from Mother Nature Theirself. Organic plant growth and use means less toxins in our Mother's precious soil! Sourcing from Organic-Fair Trade distributors also helps to ensure the demand for ethically run, sustainably sourced businesses and products. When foraging we are mindful of the environmental impact of "Over foraging" and take care to only take what we need, while also trying to remove trash and debris from the forests we gather plant medicine from.
Large, commercial Crystal Mines use up huge portions of land, often destroying plant life, displacing people and animals and critically impacting biodiversity. Crystal mines leave a large carbon footprint, contaminating ecosystems in the process. This is even the case with large-scale US mines.
We have been intentional about ethically sourcing minimal amounts of crystal chips from small-business distributers with the same goal of ethical crystal sourcing.
Witches Butter has partnered with Carbon Fund to off set our Annual Carbon Footprint. What that means for you? You can shop in our online store with peace of mind knowing that every purchase you buy and ship will have any carbon emissions offset.
